Almost any Sports store in Canada carries Crocs now. Let me know if you find any yellow XXL ones. Mine are about to give up the ghost.

Because of Croc's I have been off work for the last 12 weeks just finally able to work 4hr shifts with minimal pain and $700 corrective orthotics and shoes!
I developed Sesamoditis related to Croc's at work! I am and RN in a busy ER Dept.
Wear them with caution! My Pedi guy has said they have created ALOT of revenue for him!!

I almost fell due to my crocs.. Stopped wearing them due to that. I recommend New Balance tennis shoes. Tennis shoes give more support, and us nurses need to be careful with our feet and backs.

Peace

Hello!

The facility where I work at says Crocs are not "legal", due to the open back, and holes in front.  They says its and OSHA rule.  Anyone else hear of this?

Yay!!!! Just found ANOTHER pair of XXL yellow crocs. I have been wearing them for years now and I work in a busy ER too. They have been just fine for me. In fact, less sore feet with these than $150 trainers fitted at a "pro" running shop. Like anything, good for some, not for others. OSHA doesn't like them as they don't have heel protection. As far as the holes go, if you drop a syringe or blood on nylon trainers... how much protection do you think you will have?? Don't flame something just because it didn't work for you.

Mr. Shovelhead, I agree with you to a point. I mean as far as to each his own okay, but your feet are better protected from spills in tennis shoes over crocs with holes. A spill would have to absorb through the material and hopefully we are all smart enough to remove them prior to the spill soaking through. As to with crocs, OSHA has reasons such as them making you lose balance due to no back, heal support, and the fact that a spill will go directly through the holes. Whatever, to each his own, right? Who am I to say...I wear both depends on the scrubs for the day!

Coincidently, our feature article today is all about tips on buying the right pair of shoes- (just in case you haven't had a chance to read it) How do you like that? (wink!)

Meh.... having nylon or leather trainers that hold onto bacteria and are hard to clean doesn't sound that appetizing either. The crud soaks through, trust me. I get one of the fresh buckets of bactericidal cleaner and give the Crocs a quick scrub every once in a while. Ahhhh, fresh sweet smelling feet.

i always have problems with shoes no matter what i buy either my back hurts my feet/ankles hurt or i get shin splints
since i started to wear crocs i haven't had a problem since... i dont think they are the most fashionable shoes.. in fact i think they are pretty ugly... but they give me the right support for my feet cuz of the material is easy to mold to your feet, and wayyyyyyyyy easier to sanitize with virox
not like nylon shoes... im sure theres mrsa or something growing inbetween the material LOL

I change btn crocs, nike air max, and new balance. My crocs have almost made me fall a few times also. I am the osha trainer/officer in my office and I am sad to say I stopped everyone from wearing the crocs with the holes(other employees were not happy with me) :(

I had a child bleed all over my feet and legs one day with the ones with holes in them--I went that day and bought the NON holes--

We wore a type of crocs in the OR. They were called Cabrerra or something like that. They were heavier than crocs, but comfortable with arch support and a heel. We stuck them in the washer sterilizer once a week to clean them. No holes! (because of the risk of dropping a scalpel!) They also were not slippery, very important when you have gallons of fluid flowing on the floor during some surgeries.

I like to work with crocs as my battle boots while working at ER because its very comfy. I used to wear sneakers but when i tried crocs i found the meaning of relax and comfort.

Funny story. I don't usually have to work passing meds on the units, so I leave a pair of clean white shoes at work for times when I will need them. I was working a night shift last night so when I went to work I put on a pair of "Earth Shoes" sandals, planning to change when I got there. Needless to say, my feet were so comfortable that I didn't realize until 3am break that I still had sandals on. Luckily I changed them then, because about 5:30am I ran over my foot with the med cart.

I wear Z-Coils all the time - they are GREAT and take care of my back pain completely. I wear long flare scrubs trying to hide the coils... since I also teach aerobics I can't afford more tear on my joints.

re: wear to buy Crocs - EBAY!!! Tons of them...

I have tried the crocs and wore them all the time when I worked in the hospital setting. I loved them and never had any trouble with the back aches ect. When I went to work in the nursing home, crocs became my worst enemy. The backaches, ect returned. I now alternate between new balance, nike and my boots made by gypsy. I have recently gone back to wearing the compression hose and have noticed a difference there also. So to each his own. My crocs now make really nice house shoes, slip them on when I get home and feel like I am wearing my slippers.

I work at a state facility and they have ban crocs due to the large amount of comp injuries that have occured from slipping in the shower rooms or in the hall ways d/t moisture. A coworker slipped and fell onto her knee, smashing her kneecap on the cement floor.
