| I'm curious, did you do this yourself or use an agency or consultancy firm to assist? |

@gus Hi!,I'm from the Philippines too.Good to hear that you're to start the ONP.Good bless! By the way,is NMC taking so much time in releasing thier decision whether an applicant is accepted to under go the ONP or it will only take 3 months as stated in the Information Guideline? |

| feur09- as I remembered the NMC pack was sent to me last September by my agency. I completed the requirements a month after. It was 3rd week of November when my agency sent me an email confirming that the NMC approved my application. My consultancy immediately sent me another form for the school hoping that we can still get a seat for January but unfortunately the chances is too thin. classes already started. as of now, I still have to wait for the school since I heard that their might be changes of the visa application. I am not sure of this info but they said the UK embassy might change the visa for nurses who wish to work as a nurse in UK. that means there will be no student visa for those who are interested to undergo ONP. hope this will help |

@Gus Thanks!Indeed it helped a lot. I am expecting for my application pack to arrive soon. Any documents, school credentials, etc that I need to prepare in advance to speed up the process. By the way,in case you know, after May, what month would be the next intake? Thanks! |

@feur09 You DO NOT need a student visa to do the ONP course. It is a 20 day course and you can enter the UK as a tourist and take the course. Please see the Bournemouth website I listed earlier and you can register for the next course with them. I repeat, I DID NOT secure a visa to take this course. They do not ask you for one, you do not need one. You enter and exit as a tourist. |

No, you can work as a RN in the UK without studying at a UK university. You DO have to do a 20 day distance learning course once you have been approved by the NMC, but you do not have to retake your Bachelor's degree. You can find all the information about how to apply, agencies to ask questions of and what to do next on earlier pages of this thread - read back on pages 2 and 3. |

| i have no total idea regarding the ONP. my apology for everyone. hey, im still in Phil so I am also wishing for chances to go to UK soon same as you guys. so i guess it would be better if you ask somebody who is really there. for those who ask for the requirements, the NMC sent me through my agency a pack contains a document for APPLICATION TO REGISTER. it is just a 4-page document and it requires the IELTS result, a certified photocopy of birth certificate, passport, and registration certificate (PRC).I'm not really sure how long it took after I mailed to them the 1st doc when they sent me another documents containing more requirements. its very costly because of the authentication. I lost my copy of the second documents. I'll update when I find it. |

| I was reading laura's input regarding the ONP in the second page and truly very helpful. thanks for the info. Im quite excited for the next step.
i think the next enrollment will be on september after may.
regarding agency I cannot really endorse since they are to many and I believe that there are lots of good agencies out there. I'm from the southern part and I choose an agency just here in the city so that I can save money, and also I tracked their records and still they have outstanding score of their services. |

Just a note about agencies... They should not charge you any money in order to work in the UK. I work in the UK through a travel agency and they helped me with my IELTS, application and getting registered in the ONP in Bournemouth and then placed me in a position and gave me an apartment. I DID NOT pay anything to them. Of course, the hospital pays them a larger some than they pay me and that is how they make money, but BEWARE - a proper travel agency will not charge you anything. Also, Continental Travelnurse will work with you from a far - free of charge. |

hi ms. laura, I am wondering why the school is taking up too long for their final decision regarding my enrolment? May is almost near and I believe after the school approval I still have many documents to comply. according to them, they might offer working visa instead? how right is this? this for your enlightenment. hoping for support |

Hi Gus - I'm not sure why there needs to be a decision regarding your enrollment. Once you receive your paperwork back from the NMC, you can automatically enroll in the 20 day ONP at Bournemouth. All you need to bring with you on your first day is the paper from the NMC that they send you. Once you pass the ONP, they certify the paper and you have to mail or take it back in to the NMC. I am not sure what you are talking about regarding many documents to comply. It is really straightforward and simple. You receive your initial packet from the NMC and you mail it back. You receive your second packet and secure all the documents needed regarding your nationality, your education, your license, etc., and mail it back. Then you wait on the letter from the NMC. Once you receive that, you enroll in Bournemouth for the ONP. You cannot work on your work visa until you pass the ONP and you have a employer who has offered you a job/contract. Once you get into the work visa phase, there is little that you need to do. Your employer in the UK applies for the work visa for you. You have to submit this form online (your employer will give you the link) and then that is it. Then you go down to the UK embassy where you live and make your application for the work visa to be placed in your passport. You cannot obtain a work visa before you take the ONP. You MUST have a valid registration number with the NMC before anyone will provide you with work and you cannot receive your registration without taking the ONP course. I hope this makes sense. I'm concerned as it seems like there are many on this board who still do not seem to understand the process and are paying agencies to help them work in the UK. A proper agency will never charge you and will follow these steps. These are the steps set forth by the NMC and the Border Control. |

@Lauritasol Hi!,by any change, do you have a copy of the second document that the NMC is sending. (I guess this is the application pack itself) I am expecting mine to arrive soon but any chance I can prepare some of the requirements earlier to speed up the process. Thanks! |

Feur09 - It is best advised that you wait for the form to arrive as there are specific and detailed instructions on what you need to send back to them including certified copies of originals and having your transcripts converted to real time hours and being sent directly to them. You can read more about the process here: Http://www.nmc-uk.org/aArticle.aspx?ArticleID=1653 |

| hi! i am a registered nurse in the philippines. i only have 4 months of work experience as a nurse trainee. i inquired with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and i found out that i need to have at least 1 year of work experience to qualify for the Overseas Nursing Programme. Since i dont meet the requirements, i now plan to take an NVQ course in health and social care. What are the chances for me to be able to qualify later for the ONP while working and studying under the NVQ programme?thank you very much, i am hoping to hear from you. |
