A colleague of mine did it - he got his NMC registration with an ADN. I am not sure which courses he took. He was directed by the NMC to take some classes and he went back to university in the States, took the required classes and finished his application. You might try to call the NMC or the travel agency I mentioned and see what they can advise you. This was just recently (within the last year) that he was registered. I think it depends on what classes you already have and I know they could not determine his course until he had submitted his transcripts.

Gus - I do not know what you are referring to. Your procedure to licensure and application to ONP are unorthodox and not the way myself or others have approached things.

Being accepted into the ONP program does not mean you will get a visa to work in the UK. You must be sponsored by an employer. You will not work unless you are sponsored and then you will not receive a work visa unless you can meet the minimum qualifications by the Border Agency.

I truly urge you to contact the travel agency employer I have mentioned for guidance. I am sorry, but unfortunately I am no longer able to offer you advice. Your situation you are pursuing is completely different than what I did or have advised and what I have offered as advice to you, you have not understood it.

I wish you the best!

I probably believe that we have different approach regarding the ONP. anyway, ill send you the school admission officer's statement in regarding to my status. here it is

Just to advise you that we have now arranged your placement for the ONP and I have sent your application to our Admissions department so they can issue your offer letter which will be sent

3 days after.

Unfortunately the intake date for the ONP has needed to be changed from 4th May 2010 to 7th June 2010.
Please note we are notifying you of this change as hopefully this will give you time to get your visa and avoid any further disappointment.

can somebody explain whats next??

the agency advised me to prepare either TIER 2 or TIER 4 requirements.for tier 4 here is the excerpt from the site given by the agency.

Do I still need a visa if I have a CAS? Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
Yes. All applicants wanting to travel to the United Kingdom under Tier 4 of the points-based system will need prior entry clearance (a visa). They will need to submit the CAS reference number with their entry clearance application. On any course where its duration is 6 months or more, and for pre-sessional courses of less than 6 months, the applicant will be able to enter the United Kingdom up to I month before the date he/she starts the course of study. On any other course where its duration is less than 6 months the applicant will be able to enter the United Kingdom up to 7 days before the date he/she starts.

Below are extracts of the information found on the website: http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/infs/inf29pbsstudent and http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/infs/inf26pbsskilledworker

Good day

Anybody who knows a University offering the 20 day ONP plus a supervised training near or with in London. I'm browsing the NMC's website but I'm a bit confused with the numerous information there.

Thanks!

check this site for registered schools. make sure that the school you will enroll is registered in the UKBA list.http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/documents/employersandsponsors/pointsbasedsystem/registerofsponsorseducation

@gus
Thanks!
I would just like to ask if the Sunderland will be offering you an accommodation and how much does it cost or did your agency took care of that already?
By the way, how is your visa application, is it so complicated?

@feur09
I met with the agent from my agency and they made an appointment to the embassy for this last week of the month. I am hoping for positive outcome. as what I know, Sunderland will offer only the placement area but they did not mention about the accommodation. once you have the sponsor (employer) they will subsidize your first month by sponsoring a certain amount (you will also submit a document that certify their sponsorship).

Hi everyone,

I would like to ask for your advice regarding my NMC application. I just received my Pack 2 and i found out that my surname is still misspelled just like the Pack 1. Although i have already corrected the problem while working on my pack 1, still i am being haunted by the same problem. Now, would it be alright if i correct my surname on the Pack 2 forms myself using black ink? Or should i just leave it and proceed with accomplishing the forms and just later on inform the NMC when i submit the forms that the same typographical error has occured. What do you suggest guys?

Your help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.

@NurseOR - I would call the NMC and notify them of the error. If it is not corrected with the NMC you will receive your license with the wrong name spelling and will have difficulty working with the error. I'd suggest calling them and speaking to your advisor regarding the problem so they can send you a new document.

Would it be alright if i proceed on filling up the form and having it signed then after i have sent it back to them, that would be the time that i would inform them of the mistake. Anyway it's just a typographical error, i think they can correct it later on. Is that alright?

I would call them first unless you prefer to have your paperwork delayed. They will make you fill out a new form with the corrected details. It is better to do it first instead of having to do a 2nd time and wait longer.

Thank you very much....  by the way, do you have any idea as to how long does it usually take for the NMC to release a confirmation/decision letter after receiving the accomplished Pack 2 forms?

It depends on how many applications they are processing, but mine took 6 weeks.

Thank you very much laura for the information. It was indeed very helpful.

I have another question here, how long would it take for me to receive another Pack 2 of the NMC in case they would send me another set?

Please just call the NMC. They will tell you what you need to do and how long it will take. They are the experts. :)

Laura,
I will just have to say that you are a wealth of valuable information for me! Thank you so much for all of the information that you have provided thus far in this thread. My intention is to work in the UK as an OR nurse, as I currently am employed as such in the US. I am due to sit for my IELTS on 19th June and will thus start the process to be registered with the NMC. I am also planning to take the ONP at Bournemouth as I will be living in Portsmouth once I do move next spring.
If you don't mind me asking, what part of the UK are you currently working? Also, how do you find the work environment different from the US?
I do have a multitude of questions, however, no need to load them all on you at once. If you don't mind, I would be interested in adding you as a friend on here so that I may be able to receive advice from you in my pursuits. Or I may just post it on here so that other people who have questions may be helped in the same way that I was.
Best wishes, Heather
