Good Day,

I am a medical assistant that will be finishing my BSN in the next three years. My ultimate goal as a single mother is become a Nurse Practicioner. Can anyone tell me what is the best route to take and give an approximation of how long it will take to complete.

Thanks in advance,

Miriam W.

You will need to research the various NP programs/MS programs available to you. Some people find it easier to make a chart on their computer to fill in the answers to various features of each program so that they can easily compare. Ultimately, the you will have to decide which program is best for you based upon your unique circumstances. Best of luck.

With your BSN degree, you even have chance to further advance your education. These days, master’s, doctoral, and even post-doctoral degree programs are available at many nursing schools around the United States. NursingSchoolsU.com can guide you better for selecting next nursing program after BSN.

Hello. After BSN it would be very beneficial to pursue your MSN degree. There are a vast amount of distance educational programs that are devised to coincide with your busy career as a working nurse, parent, etc. I would like to challenge very BSN nurse to pursue a MSN degree. The sense of empowerment one feels once the degree is obtained is undescribeable.

I have less than 5 months away from completing my MSN degree program. Please consider looking into the many distance learning programs, I am sure you will find one that fits into your busy lifestyle.

Good luck

A BSN-to-DNP program is a Doctor of Nursing Practice program that enrolls BSN grads. More and more existing and new DNP programs are admitting those with BSN degrees only. You would then sit for Advanced Practice certifications NP, CNS, CRNA or CNM after you completed the DNP.
