A Holiday Message of Hope and Peace

In the spirit of the season, NurseTogether contributor Donna Maheady has created a slideshow honoring nurses with disabilities, using “Air on the G String” as the background music for this lovely tribute.

“Air on the G String” is a musical piece for string and piano, arranged by August Wilhelmj, a German violinist, from the “Air” of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major.

August Wilhelmj transposed the key of the piece from its original D Major to C major and transposed the melody down an octave. This made it possible for Wilhelmj to play the piece on only one string of his violin, the G string.

This musical piece demonstrates the beauty that can result from doing something a different way. So…turn up the music and celebrate the work of nurses and nursing students with disabilities— from around the world. Each one demonstrates a unique melody and contribution to nursing practice.

Happy Holidays!
